Boca Raton seniors Elgin and Nigel Davis were among 1,600 high school seniors who were named semifinalists in the 51st annual National Achievement Scholarship Program.

The program, which is run by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, is a privately funded academic competition that recognizes academically promising black students throughout the United States.
Since 1964, more than 33,000 students have received scholarship awards worth about $105 million.
Elgin and Nigel Davis, who are twin brothers, play defensive back and wide receiver for the Bobcats football team. They are among a handful of Palm Beach County students who were named National Achievement Scholarship Program semifinalists.
